On Tuesday the 03.09.2019 was it so far. The apprentices' excursion to the Grünhütte and along the treetop path was just around the corner. With the goal of reaching the 5km away Grünhütte, we left Tuesday morning. The wonderful nature brought us joy, motivation as well as a calm atmosphere. Besides the beautiful weather, we also had the opportunity to get to know each other better. After we finished half of the hike, we could almost smell the pancakes.
Finally arrived, we made ourselves comfortable on the terrace of the green hut and enjoyed the sun's rays. Then we ate the famous blueberry pancakes. In the meantime we could get to know our instructors and colleagues better. After we had strengthened ourselves, we started the way back. Our next destination was the tree top walk.
Due to our full stomachs, we took several breaks and were able to better enjoy nature. Thus, we additionally gained the opportunity to exchange our personal interests, which contributed to a good climate.
To get to the final destination, we had to conquer an adventurous path with plenty of obstacles and an exciting course. Once we reached the top, we could enjoy the beautiful view over Bad Wildbad and the Black Forest. As a reward, we were finally allowed to slide down the 32m high slide. Towards afternoon, we happily made our way back to the company.

POLYRACK Group with double-digit sales growth in 2018 - further investments planned.
Straubenhardt, May 15, 2019 - POLYRACK TECH-GROUP is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. During this time, the group of companies has developed into a globally active family business. The POLYRACK Group also recorded strong sales growth in the 2018 financial year. To this end, the company has greatly expanded its technology areas, and numerous investments are also planned for 2019 and the following years.
Since its foundation in 1979, the POLYRACK Group has developed from a one-man operation into a globally active family business. Over the decades, new technologies, markets and know-how have been added again and again. Thus, POLYRACK has transformed itself from a standard business to a cross-technology system supplier. Today, the portfolio includes engineering with in-depth technological know-how in the fields of mechanics, plastics technology, systems technology and surface technology. This is complemented by a broad standard portfolio and services in the areas of logistics and sourcing.
The POLYRACK Group currently employs over 450 people at several locations in the Straubenhardt and Ettlingen area (Baden-Württemberg) as well as in the USA, China, Switzerland and Belgium.
"I am proud of the fact that, despite our growth, we have remained a family business with clear structures that guides the company's fortunes with moderation and responsibility and will continue to do so in the next generation," explains Horst Rapp, the still active founder and owner of the POLYRACK Group. "As entrepreneurs, we have first and foremost responsibility for our customers and our employees. As the owner family, we also want to assume this responsibility for the next 40 years and be a reliable partner for our business partners and employees."
"Today, the company is very broadly positioned and we are represented in many industries and markets. This gives us stability and our customers the reliability they need," adds managing partner Andreas Rapp. Successful fiscal year 2018 The POLYRACK Group can look back on a successful fiscal year 2018: the company was able to increase its sales by approximately 10% in 2018 and achieved total sales of approximately 70 million euros (non-consolidated). The group of companies was also again able to achieve double-digit percentage growth in incoming orders and order backlog. "Both with existing customers, but above all with new customers and new projects, we were able to sustainably develop the group of companies. Thus, we also expect growth in this order of magnitude in 2019," explains Andreas Rapp.
The main growth sectors are medical technology, measurement and control technology, broadcasting, mechanical and plant engineering, traffic control technology, railroad technology, and aerospace. POLYRACK has also consistently expanded its standard and modified standard business in the areas of 19" and embedded computing in line with market requirements.
Continuing on a growth course with numerous investments
In 2018, POLYRACK modernized and reorganized the ESD area in assembly to better support its customers in in-house engineering in collaboration with customers.
POLYRACK is also planning extensive investments for the next few years, first and foremost the expansion of the plant in Ettlingen, near Karlsruhe. With an extension of around 1300m2, the company is expanding its sheet metal production and logistics here. In addition, the machinery will be successively expanded and renewed until 2020. By 2021, the investment volume of the POLYRACK Group will amount to around five to six million euros, this includes all technology areas: punching and laser technology, bending, welding, milling, the plastics and surface technology, as well as the further expansion of quality assurance and measurement technology.
In systems engineering, POLYRACK has gained extensive project experience and built up detailed know-how, especially in the area of the "Open VPX" standard. "The systems area will play an even more important role in the future, so we will continue to expand it and invest in development and manufacturing know-how," explains Andreas Rapp. "For this year and next, we see a growing number of project implementations, especially in the areas of embedded computing and display technology."
In order to achieve its goals for the next few years, POLYRACK is also increasing its workforce and investing in employee training.
"With these investments, we believe the group is well positioned to realize upcoming customer projects and have room for future growth with our customers," said Andreas Rapp.
Quality in focus

In the course of 2020, the certification according to DIN EN 9100 - Aerospace - should be completed. "With this, we are also demonstrating to this customer base that we can offer top performance in terms of technology and quality," says Andreas Rapp.
Strengthening the internal market and further internationalization
The German market contributed a high proportion of revenue growth in 2018 and continues to offer attractive growth opportunities for the POLYRACK Group. For further growth potential, the international markets remain in focus, first and foremost the European countries as well as the USA and Canada. Currently, the export share of the POLYRACK Group is about 50%. "Our goal is a positive sales development. However, we want to do this with the necessary sense of proportion and entrepreneurial vision," explains Andreas Rapp.

The POLYRACK Group currently has more than 450 employees at various sites in the Straubenhardt / Ettlingen area (Baden Württemberg) and in the US, China, Switzerland and Belgium. "I am proud of the fact that despite our growth we have remained a family-run company with clear structures that steers the destiny of the company with moderation and responsibility and will pursue this in the next generation as well", declares Horst Rapp, company founder and owner of the POLYRACK Group, who is still active today. "As entrepreneurs, we are responsible first and foremost for our customers and for our employees. As owners of the company, the family wishes to undertake this responsibility also for the next 40 years and be a reliable partner both for our business partners and our employees."
"Today the company offers a broad range of products and services and is represented in many sectors and markets. This provides us with stability and our customers with the requisite reliability," adds executive manager, Andreas Rapp.
Successful Fiscal Year 2018
The POLYRACK Group looks back on a successful fiscal year 2018: In 2018, the company was able to increase its sales by around 10% and achieved total sales of around 70 million euros (not consolidated). Once again, the company group showed a double-digit percentage increase in incoming orders and order backlog. "We were able to sustainably develop the company group not only with our existing customers but also and above all with new customers and new projects. In 2019 we anticipate growth in about the same amount", explains Andreas Rapp.
The main growth sectors are medical engineering, measurement and control technology, broadcasting, machinery and plant engineering, traffic-control systems, railway technology and aerospace. POLYRACK has also systematically expanded its standard and modified standard business in the fields of 19" and embedded computing to fit specific markets.
Numerous Investments for Continuing Growth Track
In 2018 POLYRACK modernized and reorganized the ESD area in assembly in order to be able to support its customers with in-house engineering in collaboration with its customers.
In the coming years too, POLYRACK plans extensive investments, first and foremost by expanding the factory in Ettlingen, near Karlsruhe. Here the company will expand its sheet metal production and logistics with a building extension of around 1300 m2. In addition, the machinery will be successively upgraded and replaced by 2020. By 2021, the investment volume of the POLYRACK Group will amount to five to six million euros, embracing all technology areas: punch and laser technology, bending, welding, milling, plastics and surface technology as well as further development of quality assurance and measurement engineering.
POLYRACK has built up extensive project experience and detailed know-how in systems technology, above all in the field of "open VPX" standards. "In future, the systems sector will play an even more important role, so we want to expand this further and invest in R&D and manufacturing know-how", Andreas Rapp explains. "For this year and the coming year, we see an increasing number of project implementations above all in the areas of embedded computing and display technology."
In order to achieve its objectives in the coming years, POLYRACK is also ramping up its workforce and investing in employee development.
"With these investments, we consider the company group well prepared for accomplishing the upcoming customer projects and it has scope for future growth with our customers", according to Andreas Rapp.
Focus on Quality
Various companies within the POLYRACK Group have recently been successfully re-certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001(2015) and IATF. Certification to DIN EN 9100 - aerospace - will be completed during the course of 2020. "With this, we want to show this target group too that we can offer top performance in technology and quality", says Andreas Rapp.
Strong Domestic Market and Further Internationalization
In 2018, it was the German market that largely contributed to the sales growth: here there are still attractive growth opportunities for the POLYRACK Group. For further growth potential the focus is on international markets, in particular the countries in Europe and the US and Canada. Currently, exports account for around 50% of POLYRACK Group's sales. "Our goal is to achieve positive sales development. But we want to do this with the necessary sense of proportion and entrepreneurial foresight", says Andreas Rapp.
